An amazing job was done by a very small team at the 2014 Minority Ethnic Communities’ Health Fair.
There were more people through the door than in previous years, probably nearer 400 than 300, which given that it is such a diverse group is a phenomenal achievement.
People were heard to say how fantastic it was – it was incredibly well organised, thanks in very large part to Bablin Molik (our MEC Development Officer), the space was well utilised and the flow of activities and information was well received by visitors.
The Minister of Health & Social Services, Prof Mark Drakeford, spoke eloquently and meaningfully and was well received by all.
The awareness of sight loss issues was elevated hugely; an important issue as some ethnicities are 6 times more likely to experience sight loss.
More appointments for the special extended eye health check were made in one day than has been recorded in the whole of Wales.
This was Bablin’s first Health Fair and she did an amazing job, it is events like this that show-case what an amazing team we have.
