The new Caerphilly group for people with hearing loss met for the first time today (2nd July 2013) at St Helens RC Community Hall, Caerphilly.
The group called Caerphilly Hear to Meet is a partnership between Action on Hearing Loss (AoHL) and Sight Cymru.
14 people attended (plus some family/friends) and enjoyed this launch meeting – they were introduced to Martin, Griffiths, Project Manager, Sight Cymru and Becky Oatley who runs the National Lottery funded project Hear to Meet for AoHL Cymru.
There are already 14 similar groups established across Wales.
The group included people wearing conventional Behind the Ear hearing aids as well as someone with a Cochlear Implant and someone with Bone Anchored Hearing Aids. Some had been affected for hearing loss for many years and others had lost hearing more recently.
As least two of the group were deafblind people with partial sight.
The group will meet monthly.
