Snowdrop Appeal – Celebrating 150 years of our Charity

Press Release

To help celebrate the organisation’s 150th Anniversary year of providing services to people who have lost or are losing their sight, we are planning to 2015 start with a swathe of snow-drops, welcoming in our Birthday year.

Snow-drops are a welcome light during those dull winter days, and once planted they will give many years of pleasure. Snow-drops are a symbol of remembrance. They are, too, a legacy of hope reminding us that even though the warm days of summer are long behind us, those sunny days will return again. We plan to plant them in parks too – so watch out for them in the spring.

To make it easier for people who are blind, we would like to offer volunteers to help plant the snow-drops so if you feel that you can help please get in touch with Becs Harris on 01495 763650 or email

We are selling special commemorative snow-drops as bulbs in the autumn for September planting and we do hope people will support us. How wonderful it would be to see our 150th birthday celebrated with 150 plantings – a true legacy to see us through the next 150 years! If you would like to purchase a pack of snowdrops please email us and we will send an order form.
