Supporting People with Hearing or Sight Loss

On Friday 5th March 2021 Sight Cymru and RNID held a joint webinar, entitled ‘Supporting people with hearing and sight loss’. The webinar took the form of a question and answer session and we took the opportunity to answer the most common questions we’re asked.

After a brief introduction, Project Officer Esther Weller spoke about the work of Sight Cymru and the services the organisation runs in support of people with sight loss, including the rehabilitation service, the team of Eye Clinic Liaison Officers, training, IT support and the telephone support service offered to individuals with sight loss. The team from RNID spoke about the Live Well project, a project which supports people in their homes or community settings to access equipment, manage their hearing loss and getting back to doing the activities they enjoy doing.

The questions that the team answered during the webinar covered the issues of technology, accessibility, out and about in covid times, problems with masks, accessing hospital settings or opticians for your hearing or sight loss and specific services run by Sight Cymru and RNID for service users in Wales.
